Meg Bonta, Violinist
“With a delicate harmony of
creative & technical mastery,
Meg brings her thoughtful
musicianship and a prayerful
stillness to the stage with the
historic sounds of scordatura
on solo violin.”
These historic sounds have
resonated from her violin in
cathedrals and on stage
nationally & internationally.
In 2023, Meg premiered
her solo program at
Carnegie Hall in New York.
As a Catholic Violinist, it is a beautiful gift to share the Mysteries of the Rosary in sound.
Mystery surrounds these 15 sonatas and the accompanying Passacaglia, which were composed by Heinrich Franz Biber in the mid-1670s. The entire work is composed of the Joyful, Sorrowful, and Glorious Mysteries of the rosary, a meditative prayer that chronicles the life of Jesus Christ and honors his mother, Mary. Biber’s Mystery Sonatas follow this same practice. With each different tuning, he sets the audience in a different frame of mind. No longer are they just in the audience to listen, but instead they are there to experience each Mystery of the rosary in sound.
“Be Still.”
